Musical Mommy

I will SING to you!
Mommy grew up with lots of music. We will have plenty of uplifting music in our home. Music is such a great way to bring the Spirit. If you are ever faced with temptation, hopefully you will have some hymns and good songs memorized so you can "change the channel" and totally avoid those temptations.
Music is away to praise the Lord.
Doctrine and Covenants Section 25 v.12:
"For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart, yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads."
Grandma Kitto sang to me every night. She would sing:
Angel Lullaby from a play entitled My Turn on Earth.
I will sing this to you too! Here are the lyrics:

You came from a land where all is light
to a world half day and a world half night.
To guide you by day, you have my love,
To guard you by night, your friends above.
(Chorus)
So sleep, sleep, till the darkness ends,
guarded by your angel friends.
So sleep, sleep, till the darkness ends,
guarded by your angel friends.

There's one stands softly by your bed
and another sits close with a hand on your head.
There's one at the window watching for the dawn,
and one waits to wake you when the night is gone.

You will love that song just like I did, and you will make me sing it all the time! I will be happy to sing to you and sit next to you and rub your back, or tickle your face and arms until you fall asleep.
My brother and sisters and I grew up listening to Brite Music, and I will play this for you as well!

I learned about happiness, service, gratitude, dependability, being healthy, love, honesty, and much more from these tapes, and the songs never leave my mind. I still sing certain songs from those tapes.Whenever I have an experience, I can refer to a song from the Brite tapes that totally relate. Wow, I just realized you may not know what a tape is! Well I will show you! Often when Mom was in trouble Grandma Kitto would play those tapes for me to get a better spirit and to teach me about whatever I was struggling with. (It was usually the happiness or gratitude tape.)
And of Course you will know the Primary songs! We will always sing them! They will be really helpful when you are afraid, or need comfort, or you want to sing for fun.
(That is what they book looked like in my day. )
My favorite primary song was A Child's Prayer. I love it! I also love I'm trying to be like Jesus. Those are such good songs. Those songs bring the spirit into the home. They also make you happy!

Also I can't forget the Hymns! They are wonderful! We sing from this in Sacrament meeting, in Family Home Evening, and whenever you want or need!
This book makes mommy so happy. I love many songs in this book. I Know That My Redeemer Lives is one of my favorites. I also love Be Still My Soul, and Come Follow Me. At my funeral (don't worry I'm fine, I just have the song planned out already) I want the congregation to sing- Each life that Touches Ours For Good. It's so beautiful.

I will also sing to you from Musicals!
There are so many fun and inspiring songs in musicals.
I will sing to you songs from Children of Eden.
Auntie Kimmy was in this play!
There are great songs from this play, and it is a very great show. I cried most of the way through it! Very touching.
I will also sing to you songs from
Thoroughly Modern Millie.

I was in this play when I was in High School! Miss. Dorothy Brown was my character name:). She has a very fun role! I will show you this play!
I will also sing to you from many other musicals such as:
Wicked, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, Little Mermaid, Lion King, Guy's and Dolls, My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, Hello Dolly, She Loves Me, The Music Man, South Pacific, Annie, Bye Bye Birdie, and much more!
I love Musicals! They will really culture you! You will learn to appreciate the ARTS:)

Yes I will let you have your own music taste, but hopefully if you listen to enough good music then you'll be fine!

When I was little Gandma Kitto took away a Christina Aguilera CD that my sister got for her birthday one year. It was taken away because there were some things in the music that she didn't think were very appropriate for my age.
I hope that in our house we can keep the music uplifting! But I will have you know that you're momma can be hip too, and by hip I mean- I listen to hip hop when I work out, and I try to make sure all that music is clean too, but it's definitely not as easy when it's that genre! Guess what I will try hard for you to be very strict in my music! I've worked really hard, and now I'll work even harder to be a better example!
Kids, you are going to love music, because you come from a background of music lovers- don't go against what you know is in you! Haha I can't wait until you can sing and then we can sing together!
But as always, I will keep singing to you!
I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my babies you'll be!

The kind of Momma I want to be....

I will do everything I can to Be There- For YOU! I grew up in a different kind of home. Grandpa Kitto was really sick and Grandma Kitto had to work to provide for my family. That was really rough for me. My mom tried so hard, but she couldn't be there for me all of the time.
If God allows it, I will be there.
I will help you pick out your outfits, if you'll let me. I will teach you how to tie your shoes.  I will wash your hair with yummy smelling shampoo and rinse it just right so you don't get suds in your eyes (unless you move, silly.) I will comb your hair and style it very nicely, and I promise to be up to date with my style as best I can. I will sit and chat with you about your day and your thoughts.
I will help you find or make the best hat for crazy hat day. I will help make or find you great Halloween costumes. I will take you trick-or-treating every year, until you're too old, and I'm thinking that is around 12, OK?  When it's cold I will layer you up nice and warm, and when we get home I will make you hot coco. I want to be a home mother for your classes so I can know whats going on in school, but don't worry I will try not to embarrass you and I will try not to nag you about your assignments. I will go on field trips with your class if you don't mind. I will read with you daily and tell you fun stories. I once won a story-telling contest ya know. I will gladly listen to your hilarious, dramatic, scary, weird, random, happy, magical stories.
I will be happy to have your friends over. I can't wait to meet them. I hope you will be wise in the friends you spend your time with, if not, we'll have to have a chat, huh? Yes!
I will cook yummy things for you. Not just yummy but healthy meals. The whole family will help with meal time. Daddy loves to cook with mommy and you love helping with everything. I will teach you different recipes and how to fold napkins and how to set the table correctly. Daddy and I will teach you proper etiquette.
We will clean together, and enjoy it. We will love making our beds, and cleaning up our messes right after they happen. Cleaning will be your hobby that you love, like your Grandma Kitto does. (Its OK if you don't like cleaning that much because your momma didn't love it too much until she got a bit older, but I am praying you will love it one day.) Cleanliness is next to Godliness. We will decorate your bedrooms to help reflect who you are on the inside. You will love your home because we will keep the spirit there.
I will be your number one fan at all your games, recitals, and performances. You are amazing! You have such wonderful talents that Heavenly Father blessed you with, and I hope you will always increase and strengthen those talents.
I will make time for you. You are important to me.
My greatest mission and greatest joy is being your mother.

How it all began...

Alright Kittos- I know that your real last name isn't Kitto, but it is definitely in your blood, (this is the side you get your silliness from) and I love the Kitto name, so go with it.
The reason I think about you so much is because I know you think about me in return. This is very dear to my heart, but on a few special occasions I have been made aware of your concern for me. There was a point in my teen years where I was struggling a bit, and I needed a blessing from your Grandpa Kitto. Within ten minutes, my life changed. I knew that one day I would be your mother. I learned many things, but since this is a public blog I will be more general. I know you pray for me. You hope for special things to happen in my life that I hope and can't wait for. You want whats best for me, and I love you for that. I know with every part of me that you pray for me because I can feel it! Those feelings get me so excited to be married and have you join the family.
Growing up your Grandma Kitto told me that my kids would turn out like me. (That was always said when I was being naughty.) I would reply, "NOOOO!!!" and usually cry, stomp my feet and say, "They will be better than me!" Obviously, I was a bit of a drama queen as a child, and yes, I was a total brat at times too. Don't use that as an excuse to be bad like I was because guess what-- you have some of Daddy's jeans that are much sweeter than mine, and I have hope that you wont turn out like me!
I hope when I am stressed, I wont make you feel stressed too. I hope I don't freak out at you, let my eyes pop out of their sockets and yell at you. (No, that NEVER happened to me, don't worry....) I hope I am logical and rational with you, instead of spanking you. I hope to hug you and calm you down when you are angry so we can get to what is really going on and you are comfortable enough to let me teach you a better way of acting or reacting. I want to teach you that mistakes are for learning, and that the Atonement is real and powerful, and we need to always use it in our lives. Most importantly I want to Love you. I want to love you even if you stomp your feet and have a total temper tantrum and you give me an evil glare. I want to see past that and love, love, love.
When you are playing, I want to play with you. I want to get down on the floor with you and your Hot-Wheels and zoom right along with you. I want to dress your Polly Pockets with you. (Yes, you may not have those same toys, and I probably just aged myself a lot, but you know what I mean.)  I want to teach you how to be creative and let you express that creativity! I want to laugh with you so hard we both cry! (Maybe you'll get that gene from me?)  You can bet I'm the Tickle Monster! And I'm..... gonna.....GET YOU!!!- because you will be ticklish!
I want to pray with you. I can't wait to see your faith grow. I want to bare my testimony OFTEN to you. I want to hug and kiss your daddy in front of you! (Don't worry, we'll keep it rated- G!) I want our relationship to be a good example to you of what you should look for in an eternal relationship. I want you to see what is truly important.
I have so many hopes and dreams for you, and I hope you will have some for yourselves. You are children of God, and I just get you for this life, to teach you, for you to teach me, to love you, to grow together, to learn together, to become what God would have us become. I hope I can set a proper example for you. I may have been a brat when I was little, but I'm working really hard everyday to be a better person for you and for Heavenly Father. Always remember that your perfect example is Jesus Christ and if you follow Him you will be happy and get to go back to Heavenly Father again. You can do it; I have faith in you!
I love you darlings.

To My Future Munchkins

I think of my future children everyday.
Often, I think: are they watching me? Are they praying for me? Am I praying for them? What do I want them to see? Are they proud of me? Are they disappointed in me? Would I do what I do if I knew they could see me now? What can I teach them to stay strong? How can I be an example to them now? How can I get through to them when they are teens? Will I love them unconditionally? This is a scary world getting worse, will they be able to stand up for what they believe in? How can I be a good mother? How can my future hubby be a good father? What will my children need from us as a couple? What can we do as a family to stand for truth and righteousness
What do I need to do now to prepare myself for their coming?
Everything I write on this blog is what I want my future kittos to know.
I want to help them, guide them, and walk beside them. I want to help them have faith, and to love the Lord. I want to be a constant source of support for them. I want to teach them correct principles and then once they are out of my home, let them govern themselves. I want my future husband to honor his priesthood to be able to bless my children, and me. I want to be ready for the second coming of the Savior and Redeemer of the world, and I want my children to be a light for others to see and glorify their God in Heaven.
How can I do all that?
Luckily I wont be alone in my pursuit of raising my children uprightly before the Lord. I will have a good husband, amazing family, my Father in Heaven, my Savior, and the Holy Ghost.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

So here's to you future children. I love you.
